Cardinals baseball

I had one of the best weekends. It was non stop but it was great!

Friday night I had some unexpected girl time with one of my best friends, Beth. Her husband and son were out of town and her daughter was at a youth function.

Hubs and R2 has plans to go and watch some Lamar Cardinals baseball, they had tickets for seats right behind home plate. R1 had a youth function, the same one Beth's daughter was going to.

So that left the two of us. We went out to eat dinner, did a little shopping and then went to the movies. We saw The Lucky One. It was just as good as the book.

Saturday I volunteered to work the concession stand at the ball park at 8:30AM. The good news was they really needed someone to work the admission gate. And since it was beautiful outside, I said I would do it. It was nice with the breeze blowing and I didn't mind since I really didn't want to smell like a french fry the rest of day. R1 had a game at 12 and R2 had a game at 1.

I got to watch R1 play for about thirty minutes and then we walked over to R2's field. When I left his game they were winning.

R2's game started and lets just say the boys showed up to play. They were all smashing the ball, running fast and letting nothing by them. R2 made a play at the plate for an out. It was awesome!
They won 12-1.

When his game was over we walked back to R1's field and finished watching his game. They were losing, 15-12. Apparently his team was just the opposite of R1's. They were having trouble hitting, fielding, making plays, and scoring runs. It just wasn't in the cards for them on Saturday.

Sunday we had tickets to watch more Lamar Cardinals baseball, we even had the same seats right behind home plate. Here's a picture I took while waiting for the game to start from our seats.

It was another great day of baseball. Lamar beat McNeese 6-0 and R1 got picked for a contest at the chance to win two tickets to see the Houston Astros. And he won! All he had to do was chug a bottle of water as fast as he could and beat the two other people competing against him. One of the competitors was R2 . So it looks like we will heading to Houston to watch more baseball.

It was a weekend full of Cardinals baseball, and that's just how I like it.

Fashion Friday- dressy summer tops

Well we went from Spring to Summer just that fast. I'm almost certain that by the end of next week the 80-85 degree weather we have been having will sky rocket straight into the high 90's with not one cloud in the sky.

And since it's been so hot I have been living in t-shirts but sometimes you want a dressy tee or just a nice summer top to wear.

This one is cute and can either be dressed up or down.

Love the colors of this one.

I've also started to like the drape neck line. See it can either be dressed up with a skirt or dressed with some sandals and a capris.
And because I didn't get much of nap, I'm off in search of another one. I'm still pretty tired.

Y'all have a great weekend. Peace out peeps.

It's been a crazy three days

These past few days have been so insane that I am completely exhausted.

So I've already told you about the weekend and how we had to clean the house on Saturday. What I didn't tell you was the second reason we had to make sure the house was in order. The first reason being it was dirty and desperately needed it. The second was I was having a party on Tuesday night.

A few weeks ago a friend invited me to a gold and silver party. I know you are saying what is a gold and silver party? Well you basically dig through every drawer, jewelry box, freezer, and storage box you have looking for all of your unused, broken, or unwanted gold and silver and turn it in for cash.

I thought well I have a about 4-5 pieces I no longer used or wanted so I took them over to her house where she had a licensed jeweler look the items and quote me a price for them. I have the option to either accept the offer or turn it down.

Well with my 5 little pieces I ended up walking out with $160.00. CASH MONEY!

Then I thought how easy this would be to sell a party like this. No buying! But rather walking out with CASH in your hand. And boy did it ever work. I booked the party and went to work calling, texting, and even creating a event page.

I had a ton of people at my house on Tuesday night and some even went home after their visit and dug up more stuff and came back.

The party was a hug success and my friends and family all walked away with some extra mulah.

Another perk of the the party, was as hostess I received 10% of what was sold (traded in) and if I went over $2500.00 the percentage increased to 15%. I ended up with 15%. I was so excited when I received my CASH at the end of the night. And I'll even be receiving more. I had several people book parties after mine and for each party booked I receive an additional $25.00.

So as you can see with all the house cleaning, baseball, and more cleaning of the house. I'm wiped out. Done. Can't move. Don't wanna move.

Y'all have a great day, I'm off to find a place to take a nap.

Guest blogger-Katie

I was recently contacted by Katie from Moore from Katie about having her guest post for me.

After we exchanged a few emails and me lurking on her blog, I'm excited to have her posting today. She has some great ideas on how to loose weight after you have a baby. You should go check out her blog when you are done reading her post.

So without further ado, here is Katie...

Losing Weight With Baby
The birth of a child is usually one of the most memorable and exciting times in a woman's life. Changes that take place, both in a new mother's lifestyle and her body can be quite surprising.

Getting back into shape after the birth of a child has many benefits to both mother and infant.
Just as a mother made health plans for baby during her pregnancy, like considering immunizations and umbilical cord blood banking, a mother needs to make post-delivery health considerations for herself. In addition to the obvious advantage of getting back into the pre-pregnancy clothes, new moms will also benefit from the energizing effect of exercise. Not only is exercise a natural combatant to the postpartum blues, it is a great way to enhance the quality sleep for new mothers.

When newborn babies can wake an average of every two hours, being able to quickly return to a deep sleep is especially important. Many mothers find that they can shed some excess weight by breastfeeding. Milk production requires a lot of calories and existing fat stores in the body are broken down to meet baby's nutritional needs. A mother should be careful not to exercise too intensely while breastfeeding, as doing so can sour the taste of the milk or release toxins into the milk.

Finding time to exercise with a new infant can be a challenge. With a few easy adjustments to the schedule, it is possible to exercise and bond with baby at the same time. If the weather is nice, taking a walk with baby in a chest carrier or stroller is a wonderful way to get moving. If it isn't possible to go outside, using a yoga DVD or squeezing in a few jumping jacks while baby is sleeping are clever ways for a mother to get her body back into shape without sacrificing time with baby.

Another inventive way to burn calories and tone muscles is to incorporate basic exercise moves into everyday household chores. Lunging while vacuuming the floor or taking a few extra trips upstairs with laundry can be a great way to multitask.

A mother should always listen to the cues her body gives her. If a mother feels in pain during any exercise, it is safe to say to stop performing that activity. Providing for baby and recovering from delivery are the most important goals for a mother. Exercising too soon or too intensely can prevent a mother from bouncing back from delivery.Taking it slow and easy is the way to go for a new mom and caution should be used with any new or extreme fitness programs. With realistic expectations and a mind toward fun, getting back in shape after a new baby can be easier that it appears.

A little Cardinal baseball

This weekend was full of baseball.

Oh but before I forget, I will have a guest blogger tomorrow. Come back tomorrow to hear from Moore from Katie.

Both boys were supposed to have baseball games on Saturday but we got so much rain here on Friday and Saturday morning that R2's field was a mess and water was standing behind second base and they canceled his game.

R1's field was in great shape and he was able to play.

R1 comes up to bat in the last inning. We are down by 3, there are two outs and there are runners on all bases. First pitch-foul ball. Second pitch-the catcher bobbles the ball and the third base runner steals home. And the other base runners advance as well.

Score is now 5-7 Them.

R1 hits a line drive right to third base. The third baseman throws the ball like a shot put and the first baseman has to dive for the ball and he ends up with his feet off the base. R1 jumps over his legs to touch first. All the while the second and third base runners both score.

Score is now 8-7. R1 drives in the runs and CARDINALS WIN!

Fashion Friday-the Landsend swimsuit

OK so you could say summer is upon us here in Texas. I mean it's been a beautiful 80-84 degrees here. Little to no humidity and clear blue skies.

This is summer, well summer the way I want it to be. The "real" summer will be here in a matter of weeks and then the temperatures will sky rocket to somewhere around 127 degrees.

So to get us ready for summer I am going to talk about the dreaded swimsuit. Truth be known I would rather not done one at all but with my in-laws living at the lake it kinda makes it hard not to own at least one swimsuit.

The past several years I have purchased my swimsuits from Landsend. In one word...AWESOME! An no this is not a paid endorsement. It's true. Their swimsuits retain their color, shape and fit over years, years I tell. you.

Below are few swimsuits from Landsend that I adore.

Gator Country

Hi y'all! Is anyone still there. I know I haven't done anything here since Monday. And this just might be the shortest blog post in my history.

We had Monday and Tuesday night off from baseball. No practice and no games. Nothing. Nada. And I just enjoyed being with my family.

Last Friday R2's class went on a field trip to Gator Country and I mentioned that I would post some pictures.

a field trip and some baseball

Friday R2 had a field trip to a place called Gator Country. Yes it's the same place CMT had a TV series called Gator 911.

Gary Saurage and his wife Jana own this park that houses well lets just say a ton of alligators and snakes and yeah you get the point.

The kids got an anatomy lesson on the gators while the teacher and parents were thinking could you speed this up a bit, they are 7-8 year old and they don't care what temperature an egg needs to be to determine if it will male or female. And in case you were wondering 30 degrees and below will produce a female and anything higher will be a male.

After the field trip was over I took R2 to Sonic to get a snack and all he wanted was a watermelon slush. And it was Happy Hour at Sonic to the drink cost me all of 50 cents. That's a boy after my own heart.

Then of course we we headed to HEB. You know it's a crisis at our house when we run out of Gushers, Ruffles, and sugar. I have to admit the running out of sugar is a crisis...no sweet tea.

Saturday was full of baseball. R2 had a game at 11AM. I would like to say we won but I don't even think our team was awake when we took the field. But R2 had a great game. He went 3 for 3 and did a great job behind the plate.

R1 had a tournament and his game didn't start till 3PM. Hubs wasn't feeling so well so he stayed home and R2 decided to keep him company, so it was just me and R1. I love moments like that. Just he and I talking about whatever.

And I would like to say his team won but they didn't. I will say it was a great game. R1 had a shot to left field that we all thought was going over the fence. Even R1 thought it was going over. It hit the top of the fence and then just dropped down inside. I screamed at him to RUN! He ended up getting a triple.

Then the coach pulled our pitcher, who had been doing a great job and put in R1 to pitch. Oh be still my mama heart. Nothing like being nervous. R1 was fine, not a ounce of nervous showing on him. Me I took to doing what I always do....stuffing my mouth with sunflower seeds and rocking back and forth in my chair. My friend Melanie started laughing at me. But she totally understood. She does the same thing when her son pitches.

We were down and came back to tie it up in the 5th. It stayed tied all the way to the bottom of the 7th when the other team hit a shot to deep left center and they scored. Game over.

Then the entire team went out to eat Mexican food. I love doing stuff like that with the team. Making memories with friends. I wish had thought to take some pictures.

Even though both teams lost, I was so proud of my kids. Personally they did the best they could and that's all a mama could ask for.

Fashion Friday-Bags

So a few weeks ago I posted about Fashion Friday and 3rd times the charm and all and that was it. I didn't post anything after that.

Epic fail.

It's almost summer, who am I kidding it is summer. With temps in high 80's and a ton of people, me included have already begun to capri's and flip flops.

But something I am obsessing over right now are summer totes.

I bought a tote bag a few years ago from Lands End two years ago and it's still my absolute favorite. It holds everything and I do mean everything. It has been to the ball park (go figure) and to the beach, the lake, weekend trips, school field trips. You get the picture.

Here is the bag I purchased. Only mine is red and navy. LOVE IT! I like the yellow and blue too. And right now it's even on sale at Land's End.

To be honest, anything from Land's End is fabulous. I had a rugby shirt, don't judge, from them. I had it for years and the red stayed the same bright red the entire time I had it. And it never bled onto the white and it always stayed bright white. I also have a couple of their swimsuits. But that's a post for another day.

Another great bag is this. For some reason I just like this bag. I guess the colors say summer time to me.
And then there is this. So cute.

And here is another.

Oh and this.

Well I'm off to go hang out with a bunch of first graders on a field trip to a place that has alligators. Y'all have a great weekend.

One sick puppy

Literally I have a sick puppy. Only she's not a puppy anymore, she's 6 years old.

Let me start out by saying we don't live in the city but we don't live in the country either. We don't have acreage is what I mean when I say country. Our back yard is not fenced. There is a field behind our house so we kinda feel like we have some acreage but the land owner for the most part keeps it mowed down. We have neighbors across the street and next door. And believe it or not but caddy corner behind us is the house that Hubs grew up in. It's the house my in-laws built but sold over 10 years ago.

Anyway back to my point. My point is that Cookie has free reign to roam. What I mean by roam is that she goes from our yard to the neighbors yard, the house across the street, the field, my in-laws old house and down to the stop sign. That's it.

I sure have been saying "what I mean by" in this post a lot. Ok moving on.

But somewhere one of the homes must have created some sort of compost pile and Cookie has found it.

For the past two days she has had bad gas and diarrhea. Just in case you didn't know, yes dogs pass gas and yes it is VERY stinky. Worse than two boys and a grown man. I know waaaay to much information. Next....

Tuesday and Wednesday when we got home Cookie had had an accident in her crate. That is how I know she's not feeling good. That dog would rather die and mess up her crate.

She's been eating and drinking fine which is one reason I'm not freaking out. The other reason is a dear friend is a Vet. Thank goodness!!

OK, OK, moving back to the point. The point is that Hubs and I are tired of getting pawed to death at 4AM so she an go outside and take care of some business. I am ready to get back to our normal routine. My eyes are bloodshot and the wrinkles under my eyes are beyond the help of eye cream.

So y'all say a prayer that we turn a corner soon..and if you know of some hallelujah chorus singing eye cream that is AMAZING, please let me know.

Houston Astros opening day 2012

Hubs sent this video clip to me yesterday.

It's an interview of former President George H.W. Bush last Friday night. Which was opening night for the Astros.

It is funny! But of course you will need to click the picture to view the video on the MLB website.

Easter weekend

The weekend started off with a service at church for Maundy Thursday. We sang two of my favorite songs, Angus Dei and How Deep The Fathers Love For Us. As one of our church members said, it was great stuff with the family!

After the service our youth group had a lock in. They started off by going to The Last Days of Christ. You can read about it here. It's a great way to prepare your heart for the Easter season. As always we took the boys, well R1 went with the youth so we just took R2.

Friday I decided that my feet needed a little pampering so off I went to get a pedicure. Then I went to HEB to procure the things we would need for the weekend, such as steaks, bread, marshmallow chocolate eggs, and Peeps.

We also did the annual dyeing of eggs too.

Saturday we started off with an Easter egg around 10AM. And then we went to a friends house for a crawfish boil. Oh how I love crawfish. Hubs on the other hand says it's to much work for a little bitty piece of meat. Oh and the potatoes.... so good.

Sunday the Easter bunny paid visited our house. He also brought the boys paint ball guns. I'm gonna have to have a very serious talk with that bunny.

The church service was amazing. And I did manage to get a few pictures of us before the service.
After lunch a nap was in order but I don't know how much of nap I got since the boys were outside playing with their paint ball guns and I was just sure that they were using each other as target practice instead of the bulls eye chart that came with gun.

Dinner was great as usually. Hubs is a mean steak cooker. I think I'll keep him around for a bit. And that was our Easter weekend.

Oh and the weather was perfect. Which means by next week it will 97 degrees and humid.

Anyway, I hope each of you had a wonderful Easter weekend.

I hope each of you have a wonderful Easter.

Off the wagon

Well it's Thursday and I just realized I have posted anything since I Tuesday.

And to be totally honest, I'm tired. I'm not a young spring chicken anymore and this past weekend totally wiped me out. I'm still trying to recover. I have gone to sleep every night this week well before my normal 10:15 fall asleep in the recliner routine.

I am hoping to fix that problem sometime this weekend, like tomorrow and find the energy that I had before I left. If some one would PLEASE tell R2 that just because he wakes up at the butt crack of dawn doesn't mean his mama has to.

So since grandma here needs her rest I'm off to find a nice comfy spot to rest. Y'all have a great day.

Dance Diva

This past weekend I left all three of the boys to fend for themselves and I took off with my mother in law, sister in law, and niece to Baton Rouge for my niece's dance competition.

We had a great time! My niece is one very talented dancer. She placed 8th for her solo routine out of about 150 girls. One of the six dances she was in placed 3rd which won her whole team an invitation to attended nationals this summer in New York.

I was one proud aunt.

But after sitting there all day and I do mean all day on Sunday, listening to the girls, their mama's, their coaches, and the studio owners, lets just say I'm very very glad that I am the mama of boys.

I know not all girls are dance drama divas. There were some very sweet girls, which makes up for the ones that were giving attitudes to their mothers or coaches and so on. Way to much ESTROGEN for me,

But enough of that, here are a few snap shots of my niece. Did I tell you I was proud of her?
See I told you...Diva! I love you baby girl and I am so proud of you!
